Social & Public Art Resource Center Miscellaneous Commercial ServicesCommercial Services The Social & Public Art Resource Center (SPARC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating and preserving public art that fosters community engagement, education, social justice, and public memory. The non-profit company is located in the US. Inspired by the Mexican social mural movement, SPARC supports artistic freedom and represents underrepresented communities through murals addressing social issues such as immigration and police brutality. The organization operates from historic art deco headquarters, with additional galleries and studios, and runs key programs including the Great Wall mural and a citywide mural program in partnership with the city's department of cultural affairs. SPARC also manages the mural rescue program, employing advanced conservation techniques, and hosts exhibitions, workshops, and community dialogues. It operates the Digital Mural Lab and the Great Wall Institute to innovate in large-scale and digital mural art, and initiatives like MuralMemoirs collect community stories related to murals. SPARC engages diverse communities through participatory art, promotes civic dialogue and social change, and sustains its mission through public arts funding, foundation support, partnerships, donations, and volunteerism.
