Purcell joined Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island in May 2005 and currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer.
He is a Director of the Rhode Island Quality Institute, the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, the National Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, and the Crossroads Rhode Island.
Mr. Purcell is a Trustee of the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council, the Advisory Council of the Roger Williams University Law School, and the Brown University Civic Leadership Council.
Prior to joining Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island, he was a Founding Partner and Managing Partner of Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP.
Mr. Purcell received an undergraduate degree from Cornell University in 1967 and a Law degree from the Boston University School of Law in 1974.
