He worked for 25 years at Lockheed Aircraft Corporation with responsibility for corporate and industrial relations.
He then served for five years as Chairman of the Board of Pathfinder Mines Company.
In addition to several major consultancies, he has served, or now serves, on the Board of Directors of 47 corporations or mutual funds.
Mr. Hodgson spent eight years in government service, including one and three years, respectively, as Under Secretary and Secretary of Labor in the Nixon Administration and three years as Ambassador to Japan in the Ford Administration.
He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota.
