Before joining Harbinger Capital Partners in August 2005, Mr. Benson worked from 2000 until 2005 at Citigroup as a Vice President/Research Analyst in the Global Special Situations Group in both the London and Tokyo offices.
During his 5.5 years at Citigroup he was instrumental in building Citigroup's European and Japanese distressed investment portfolio.
Prior to joining Citigroup, from 1996 until 1998, Mr. Benson worked as an Analyst in the Mergers & Acquisitions department at PaineWebber Inc. in New York .
Mr. Benson graduated Summa Cum Laude from Union College in 1996 with a B.A. in Economics and also completed the 12 month intensive Japanese language program at the Inter-University Center administered by Stanford University in 1999.
