Profil
Prior to joining Highland in 2004, Smith founded and for seven years managed Stonehenge Financial Partners LLC, a structured finance/asset management advisory firm.
From 1993 to 1996, Smith was co-head of the asset-backed structured finance group at Nomura Securities International, where he ran the trading desk that financed, traded and securitized all non-conforming residential mortgages and asset-backed securities.
Prior to Nomura, he spent several years at Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette, where he built and managed the structuring unit within the real estate finance group.
He began his finance career at FSA, helping to develop the technology for some of the earliest applications of bond insurance for mortgage-backed transactions.
