Mr. Nicholson joined Lutheran Brotherhood (LB) in 1990 as chief financial officer.
In 1997 he was named chief operating officer and was elected president in June 1999 and CEO in July 2000.
He assumed the position of president and chief executive officer of Thrivent Financial on Jan.1, 2002, when LB merged with Aid Association for Lutherans.
Prior to rejoining Lutheran Brotherhood in 1990, Mr. Nicholson served as a principal of Towers, Perrin.
Mr. Nicholson serves on the Board of Regents of St. Olaf College and is a member of the Board of Directors of Luther Seminary and the Minnesota Orchestral Association.
He is a fellow in the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
Mr. Nicholson graduated from St. Olaf College in 1968 earning a bachelor’s degree, with distinction, in mathematics and economics.
