Thian Hoo Tan has been Chief Executive Officer and a member of Board of Directors of Komag, Inc. since 1999.
He was the Chairman of Komag, Inc. from June 30, 2002 to August 19, 2004.
He joined Komag, Inc. in 1989 and started first San Jose manufacturing facility in 1989, Penang operations in 1993 and Sarawak operations in 1996.
He returned to the United States and assumed the position of Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations, from 1996 through his appointment to his present position of Chief Executive Officer in 1999.
Before joining Komag, Inc., he was Vice President of Operations at HMT.
He holds B.S.
and M.S.
degrees in Physics from the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur.
