Shariq Azhar is the Director General of Injaz Mena and has been with the firm since its inception.
He came to Injaz Mena with over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, of which the last eight years were with financial institutions in the GCC region and the balance in the USA and Europe.
Over his career, Mr. Azhar has held senior level positions in a diversity of functions in banking and finance, ranging from corporate banking and investment management to risk management and financial regulatory policy, among others.
Mr. Azhar served as Executive Vice President and Head of the Corporate Banking Group of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, where he built the Bank's wholesale business lines including Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Treasury & Investments, Institutional Banking and Commercial Banking.
Prior to this he was with The Saudi Investment Bank in Riyadh as Head of Corporate Banking responsible for the central region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Earlier, Mr. Azhar was General Manager of Mashreqbank, USA in New York; prior to which he served as Vice President of The Chase Manhattan Bank in New York.
He began his banking career as Senior Research Analyst in the Policy Studies Group of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the US central bank.
Mr. Azhar holds an MBA in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University, USA and a BSc in Mathematics and Business from Salford University, UK.
