Mr. Richard A. Hemsley is Chief Operating Officer at National Westminster Bank Plc.
He is also on the Board of Directors at VocaLink Ltd. He joined NatWest Bank in 1983 where he undertook a wide variety of roles in retail banking, corporate banking and head office functions.
In 2000, he became Head of Lending Operations.
In 2005, Mr. Hemsley became Managing Director for Manufacturing Operations, where he had responsibility for around 17,500 people and a cost base of £850 million.
During this time, he was a driving force for customer service improvement and delivered a 30% improvement in productivity.
In February 2008, following the acquisition of ABN AMRO, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Hemsley is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland.
He has completed the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School and is a member of Payments Council Board.
