Before joining GSO Capital Partners in 2008, Mr. Canaan worked from 2003 through 2006 as an Executive Managing Director and Co-Head of International Fixed Income at Nomura Securities International in New York.
Mr. Canaan was also Co-Head of Fixed Income (Europe) for Nomura International PLC from 2001 to 2003.
Before that, he was with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, and CSFB after its acquisition of DLJ where he was a Managing Director and Principal.
Holding several positions in research and trading, Mr. Canaan was instrumental in establishing the Special Situations desk with the Mortgage-Backed Securities Group at DLJ, with the responsibility to structure and trade non-performing, under-performing and re-performing securitized assets.
Mr. Canaan holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and a Masters of Engineering Degree in Nuclear Engineering from Cornell University.
He previously served on the Executive Board of the Bond Market Association.
