As a manager at IGNIA, Mr Joshua Motta evaluates investments and manages deal execution in sectors serving the Base of the Pyramid including healthcare, housing, basic utilities, education and technology.
He also focuses on fund structuring, fundraising, and building IGNIA’s strategic partnerships with investors, NGOs and multi-lateral institutions.
Mr Motta brings over three years of directly relevant experience in private equity investing and deal structuring from the likes of Goldman Sachs and Francisco Partners, as well as three years of operational experience at Microsoft, Sprint and Honeywell.
Driven by his commitment to achieving social impact through cross sector collaboration, innovative business models, technology and capital markets innovation, Joshua joined IGNIA in 2009.
As an investment professional at Francisco Partners (FP), a US$5 billion global private equity firm focused on technology and technology-enabled services business, Joshua evaluated numerous deals in sectors such as high technology, software, healthcare, consumer goods, and manufacturing.
He has analyzed investment opportunities ranging from small, rapidly growing companies to mature, multi-national corporations.
At FP, his work resulted in the investment of over US$100 million in multiple companies on two continents.
Joshua also served as a Board Observer for several software and technology portfolio companies including Mincom, Mitel Networks and Attachmate.
Mr Motta holds an A.B. from The University of Chicago where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa, with honors
