Mr. Joel B. Gardner is a Senior Managing Director at Burnham Securities, Inc. Mr. Gardner joined Burnham Securities in 2004.
He has extensive transactional experience and has had responsibility for numerous acquisitions, divestitures, leveraged buyouts and financings in a variety of industries including the consumer products, manufacturing, real estate and business services sectors.
Mr. Gardner was a founder, managing director and member of the management committee at Peers & Co., the first U.S.
investment banking firm focused on strategic transactions with companies located in the Pacific Basin.
He maintains relationships with some of Japan’s most important companies, stemming from his pioneering work in the development of cross-border mergers and acquisitions between Japan, the United States and Europe during his time at Peers.
More recently, he has been active in raising growth capital for companies in China.
Following Peers, he served as managing director of Patricof & Co. Capital Corp.
and then BNY Capital Markets, the capital markets subsidiary of The Bank of New York.
He began his professional career as an attorney at Davis Polk & Wardwell, followed by appointment to vice president in mergers and acquisitions at Dean Witter Reynolds.
Mr. Gardner is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Virginia.
He also received his JD degree from the University of Virginia, where he was a member of the Law Review and the Order of the Coif.
