Eleanor Holmes Norton is the founder of the National Conference of Black Lawyers, which was founded in 1968.
She is currently a Member of the U.S.
House of Representatives, a position she has held since 1991.
Previously, she served as Chairperson of the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission from 1977 to 1981.
She also worked as a Professor at Georgetown University Law Center.
Ms. Norton received her undergraduate degree from Antioch College in 1960, her graduate degree from Yale University in 1963, and her graduate degree from Yale Law School in 1964.
