Earl M. Foster Associates, Inc.
Earl M. Foster Associates, Inc. Investment ManagersFinance Earl M. Foster Associates (EMFA) is a value manager that manages discretionary portfolios that are individually constructed and managed on a continuous basis. They invest in a variety of marketable securities including US Government and Agency bonds, municipal bonds, corporate debt, equities, mutual funds, annuities, options and warrants. The firm uses traditional methods of economic and financial analysis to evaluate the business cycle and the risk and return prospects for each asset class. They reduce risk by diversifying investments across asset classes. EMFA conducts their own research to make investment decisions. They use proprietary valuation techniques, information from independent research firms, brokerage houses and their analysts, government agency publications, company financial reports and interviews with company management. EMFA typically invests in stocks with a Standard & Poor's quality rating of B+ or better. However, up to 25% of the stocks may be of companies that are either non-rated by Standard & Poor's or have a rating below B+. The firm focuses on investments in the stocks of undervalued companies with above-average dividend yields. In general, EMFA tends to invest in the stocks of large-cap companies in the technology services, health technology and retail sectors. They invest in the US, Europe and Asia. The firm maintains a low turnover rate. The firm's fixed-income investment approach focuses on the management of maturity structure to control risk and on positioning the portfolio for the interest rate cycle. The maturity structure is usually laddered so that cash flows to the portfolio are optimally distributed. EMFA avoids short-term trading. They invest only in bonds with a quality rating of A- or better by Standard & Poor's or an equivalent rating by another recognized rating agency. Convertible bonds must satisfy either the firm's bond or stock quality criteria. Cash reserves are normally deployed in money market funds for maximum liquidity. This portion of the portfolio is also used as a reserve to hedge against potential declines in the bond or stock markets. Occasionally, EMFA may make direct investments in prime quality short-term investments. | Fondateur | 21/11/2011 |
