Mr. Manoiu, VP for Research and Development, was formerly General Manager of Rompetrol's Vega Refinery, is responsible for the smooth running of a medium-sized refinery that selects appropriate crude oils and other raw materials for production of special solvents and functional hydrocarbons with a wide range of applications.
Mr. Manoiu holds a MS degree and Doctor degree in Chemical Engineering from Faculty of Chemical Technology Bucharest (1970) and Tokyo Institute of Technology (1980) and also holds an UNESCO expert degree in the field of Petroleum Processing, Catalysis and Chemical Engineering.
Before working at Vega Mr. Manoiu has worked in the Research Institute for Petroleum Processing and Petrochemistry (Romania) and the Tokyo Institute of Technology for more than 27 years where he was Principal Researcher and Scientific Manager from 1982 to 1997 Mr. Manoiu has developed over 27 technologies based on new zeolite catalysts, and holds 31 patents and participated in over 23 seminars and lectures in foreign countries.
Mr. Manoiu was also a key contributor and consultant in the field of abnormal situation management and engineering for plants and refineries.
For serving Science, Technology and Society Worldwide, since 1980 Dr. Manoiu was elected member of several scientific and academic organizations from Romania and other foreign countries.
Mr. Manoiu is a Romanian national and is fluent in English, Japanese, and German.
