Prior to joining Duncan-Williams on March 7, 2010, Mr. Desmaras worked as a Managing Director for MFR Securities, Inc. He has wealth of experience in the securities industry.
His experience includes not only public finance investment banking but also institutional sales and trading sides of the business.
Mr. Desmaras traded municipal bonds and mortgage backed securities at Drexel Burnham Lambert.
He has an extensive experience in institutional sales at Merrill Lynch, and Popular Securities, where for over a decade, he made markets in municipals, IRBs, and MBSs, among other securities, at these institutions.
He began his investment banking experience at Popular Securities and worked to raise over $2.6 billion for a variety of issuers and security types from 1997 to 1998.
He rejoined Popular Securities in 2004, to open its first US mainland office and was a key member of a team that covered east coast and mid-west accounts.
Mr. Desmaras has a BA in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, and a MBA from Columbia University, where he concentrated on derivatives and corporate finance.
