Ovintiv Inc. exerce ses activités dans les domaines de l’exploration, du développement, de la production et de la commercialisation du pétrole, des liquides de gaz naturel et du gaz naturel. Ses activités d’exploration et de production sont réparties en deux segments géographiques : les opérations aux États-Unis et les opérations au Canada. Les activités de ces segments comprennent également des achats et des ventes de produits auprès de tiers, afin d’assurer une flexibilité opérationnelle et de réduire les coûts liés aux engagements de transport, aux types de produits, aux points de livraison et à la diversification de la clientèle. Ses actifs comprennent le bassin du Permien et le Montney. Le bassin du Permien est la principale région productrice de pétrole aux États-Unis. Ses activités sont concentrées dans le bassin de Midland, riche en pétrole, au Texas, où la société détient un important portefeuille de terrains. Le Montney est un gisement de pétrole et de gaz naturel non conventionnel en Amérique du Nord. La société y est un opérateur de longue date, disposant d’un vaste portefeuille de terrains contigus couvrant le cœur du bassin, en Alberta et en Colombie-Britannique.
