Jochen Zeitz est le charismatique Président du Directoire de Puma. En quinze ans, il a ressuscité la marque en redorant son image.

Diplômé en 1986 de l'École de commerce européenne Oestrich-Winkel en Allemagne, Jochen Zeitz exerce ses talents au sein de Colgate Palmolive à New York et à Hambourg. Son style et sa créativité lui valent d'être repéré par un chasseur de têtes qui l'encourage à rejoindre le fabricant d'articles de sports Puma. Il y entre en 1990 en tant que directeur du marketing de la section chaussures avant d'être nommé un an plus tard responsable du marketing international. En 1993, alors âgé de 30 ans, Jochen Zeitz est nommé CEO et Président du Directoire de Puma. Il devient le plus jeune président d'une société cotée à la Bourse allemande.


Dès lors, le fringant nouveau président s'emploie à faire de Puma « la marque la plus désirable du monde ». Puma qui peinait à exister aux côtés des géants Nike et Adidas renoue avec les bénéfices en six mois à peine. Pour y parvenir Jochen Zeitz décide de sortir la marque des stades pour l'emmener dans la rue et sur les podiums des défilés de mode. En faisant appel au couturier Hussein Chalayan, il parvient à lui donner une âme en l'installant comme une marque branchée à la lisière du luxe et du grand public. Le design est revu, les lignes sont épurées, Puma est visible dans les soirées les plus branchées des grandes capitales.

Le sponsoring est également revu. Jochen Zeits renforce la présence de Puma dans le football notamment en Afrique et étend sa stratégie à de nouvelles disciplines plus élitistes comme la voile ou le golf. Une stratégie gagnante puisque les bénéfices de Puma n'ont cessé de croitre jusqu'en 2008 où pour la première fois, Puma enregistre une baisse de ses bénéfices de 13,5%. le chiffre d'affaires, lui, a continué d'augmenter.

En août 2007, Jochen Zeitz a été nommé membre du conseil d'administration de Harley-Davidson Inc.

En mars 2011, appelé à de plus grandes responsabilités au sein du groupe PPR, il laisse la main à un nouveau directeur opérationnel, en la personne de Franz Koch, 32 ans. Ce dernier était jusque là directeur de la stratégie de Puma.
