Roy Harris Jenkins served as Chancellor of the Exchequer from 1967 to 1970, Home Secretary from 1965 to 1967 and again from 1974 to 1976, President of the European Commission from 1977 to 1981, and Chancellor of the University of Oxford from 1987 to 2003.
He was also a Member of the House of Commons from 1948 to 1977 and again from 1982 to 1987.
Jenkins received his undergraduate degree from Balliol College.
