Mr. Chapman joined Alpha Innotech in April 2004.
Mr. Chapman is a seasoned sales and marketing executive with over 30 years of experience in the medical device, research instrument, and biopharmaceutical industries.
He started his career in pharmaceuticals with Eli Lilly & Company.
During nearly ten years there, his successful sales performance led to home office assignments in marketing management and business development.
From there he moved into product management roles at Syntex and then Genentech where he was responsible for the global commercial launch of Activase (t-PA), the largest biopharm product launch in the history of the industry up to that time (first year sales $187 million).
Mr. Chapman then progressed to more senior positions in start-up biotech and medical device/instrument companies.
He started the marketing and sales departments at Triton Biosciences/Berlex Labs and led the company in the successful commercialization of Fludara and Betaseron, the latter setting yet another record in first year sales ($206 million).
Subsequently, Mr. Chapman held senior management positions (Vice President, Chief Business Officer) in medical device and research instrument businesses such as Nexell, Xcyte and VidaMed.
Sales results achieved at VidaMed under his leadership resulted in its acquisition by Medtronic for $326 million in 2002.
Mr. Chapman holds a B.S.
in Biological Sciences from the University of California , Davis , and an M.B.A. from Southern Illinois University.
