Profil
Prior to joining MDV, Dr. Moortgat founded and directed the Center for BioEntrepreneurship at the University of California San Francisco where she worked closely with UCSF's scientists and trainees as well as life science industry leaders to provide training, build teams, and access mentoring and other resources that enabled successful translation of research discoveries into clinical practice and public benefit.
In addition, she worked with university leadership to develop strategies for industry partnering.
She has advised the NIH (NIBIB) and NSF on supporting entrepreneurial science and innovation, and has spoken on the topic at national and international meetings, including at BIO 2004.
Dr. Moortgat earned a PhD in Biophysics for her research at the Salk Institute and UC San Diego, and bachelor's and master's degrees in Physics from UC Berkeley and UC San Diego, respectively.
She was a Sloan Postdoctoral Fellow at UC San Francisco
