Mr Javier DIaz is co-founder and Managing Director of Andes Capital, a fund-management company established in 2007 to provide private capital to small and medium enterprises in the Republic of Colombia.
Javier is currently fundraising for the Colombia Opportunity Fund, the first fund to be managed by Andes Capital.
Prior to founding Andes Capital, Javier spent six years at the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, DC, serving as chief counsel to the Multilateral Investment Fund, structuring private equity funds and investments, and advising on project finance, microfinance, and asset-backed lending in Latin America.
Javier played a key role in several high-profile transactions such as the $850 million financing of the Camisea gas pipeline in Peru and the $500 million replenishment of the Multilateral Investment Fund.
During his tenure at the Inter-American Development Bank, Javier also served as counsel on global debt issues and cross-currency derivatives transactions.
Javier has been working on Latin American financial and business transactions for the past twelve years, from different positions in New York, Washington, DC, and Colombia.
He is also a local advisor to USAID for private equity and venture capital reform in Colombia.
