Heinz Michael Meier has been CEO of Bayern Kapital, a wholly owned subsidiary of LfA Förderbank Bayern, the Bavarian Bank for the Advancement of the economy, since the Company’s foundation in 1995.
He is responsible for the management of Venture Capital Funds nearly totaling EUR 200 million.
Bayern Kapital is managing its own fund as well as Seedfonds Bayern and Technofonds Bayern I and II.
The main investment focus is early stage financing of enterprises in the field of biotechnology, IT, software and other key industrial
technologies.
Before his career as VC manager Mr. Meier served as Senior Vice President of Bayerische Landesbank's Equity Investment Division.
He also held various positions in Bayerische Landesbank's Foreign Operations.
As First Vice President of the Bank's
International Network Division his responsibilities included the strategic orientation and the operational control of the Bank's foreign subsidiaries, branches and representative offices.
He also served as First Head of Bayerische Landesbank's operations in Hungary and the
Bavarian Government's Liaison Office in Budapest.
Prior to his banking career Mr. Meier was a Senior Official in the Economic and Treasury Division of the Bavarian Ministry of Finance.
He also held assignments
in the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris and Munich University's Institute of Political Science and Public Law.
Mr. Meier is Lecturer at Munich's Academy of Business
Administration (VWA).
