Dr. Erwin Schurtenberger serves as Senior Advisor of the China Training Center for Senior Personnel Management Officials.
Dr. Schurtenberger has also been an Independent Business Advisor to various European multinationals, American groups and humanitarian aid organizations such as Credit Suisse Financial Services, Novartis and Bunge.
He served as the Ambassador of Switzerland to the People’s Republic of China, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the Republic of Mongolia from 1988 to 1995 and the Republic of Iraq.
He joined the Swiss Foreign Services in 1969.
Dr. Schurtenberger served as Chairman of CNOOC Ltd.’s International Advisory Board (‘IAB’) until 2005.
Dr. Schurtenberger serves on the Board of Directors of Robert Bosch RBint., Buhler Group Switzerland, Firmenich, Sire Holding, CIBA China and Winterthur Insurances (Asia).
He served as Member of International Advisory Board of CNOOC Ltd. He served as a Director of Bühler AG since 1995.
He served as an Independent Non-executive Director of CNOOC Ltd. from 2002 to 2005.
He served as a Member of International Advisory Committee of Robert Bosch GMBH until 31 December 2017.
Dr. Schurtenberger is a graduate in both political science and philosophy of the Université de la Sorbonne – Université de Paris and received a Ph.D.
Degree in Economics at Université de la Sorbonne – Université de Paris.
