Profil
Eric Walters joined Westport Resources in March 2010.
His investment philosophy relies on data analysis regarding valuation, sentiment, momentum and liquidity to identify current risks and opportunities across asset classes.
His strategy is to partner with the market when the trends are positive and assets are cheap and reduce riskier positions when the trends are negative or assets are expensive.
He creates customized, diversified asset allocations that match client return needs and risk tolerance.
With an emphasis on conservative investments he seeks to increase long-term returns by minimizing losses.
This approach leads to more conservative portfolios that outperform over time by losing less during downturns.
Prior to joining Westport Resources, Mr. Walters was a Portfolio Manager and Vice President at U.S.
Trust where he managed $300 million in high-net worth client assets.
Mr. Walters designed and managed custom portfolios comprised of stocks, mutual funds, bonds, hedge funds, private equity, Master Limited Partnerships (MLPs), Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), and commodity assets.
Mr. Walters coordinated a weekly market strategy meeting of Portfolio Managers and specialized in asset manager due diligence and selection.
Mr. Walters began his career in financial services in 2006 as an Associate at Bank of America Private Bank in the Financial and Estate Planning group.
There he provided comprehensive financial and estate planning advice to high-net worth executives and business owners.
Prior to joining Bank of America he worked as a consultant at Monitor Group providing strategic management consulting services to Fortune 100 companies.
Mr. Walters graduated Magna Cum Laude from Columbia University with a B.A. in Philosophy.
He also studied economics and finance.
He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the Stamford CFA Society.
