Prior to joining Avondale in January 2005, Ms. Allen worked at Natexis Bleichroeder, covering the Construction Materials, Home Furnishings, and Home Construction industries.
Individual sectors range from deep cyclicals (cement, wallboard) to consumer products (furniture, carpet) to housing-related retailers.
In the Wall Street Journal’s “Best on the Street” stock-picking survey, among analysts covering the home construction & furnishings sector, Ms. Allen placed fifth, second and fifth in 2003, 2002 and 2000, respectively.
As a senior analyst with Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette, for nine consecutive years, Ms. Allen earned an “All-Star Analyst” ranking in the Institutional Investor survey for her coverage of the domestic building materials and homebuilding sectors.
In the 2000 Reuters Survey of US Larger Companies, the management teams of the companies under coverage by Ms. Allen ranked her second among all analysts covering the housing and building materials sectors.
She frequently discusses housing trends on a variety of television shows, most recently “Wall Street Week with Fortune”.
She has also appeared on “Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser,” “Adam Smith’s Money World,” FNN’s “Real Estate Magazine,” “Good Morning America,” “The Wall Street Journal Report,” “Smart Money with the Dolans,” as well as the various network news programs.
Ms. Allen is often a speaker at industry conferences such as the National Associations of Realtors, the National Association of Homebuilders, and a number of university-sponsored forums.
A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Alabama, Ms. Allen holds a Master’s degree in Chinese history, as well as an M.B.A. with a Finance concentration.
