Fondateur et P-DG de la compagnie aérienne low cost easyJet, Stelios Haji-Ioannou est à la tête d'un véritable empire baptisé easyGroup qui décline le concept low cost dans différents domaines tels que l'assurance (easyMoney), la location de voitures (easyCar), les comparateurs de prix (easyValue) et même les pizzas avec easyPizzas.

Diplômé en 1987 de la London School of Economics, Stelios étudie la finance à la City University de Londres jusqu'en 1988, date à laquelle il rejoint Troodos, la compagnie de transport maritime fondée et dirigée par son père. En 1992, le jeune Stelios décide de s'affranchir des méthodes paternelles en fondant sa propre compagnie maritime qu'il baptise Stelmar.

La société marche bien mais Stelios, le serial-entrepreneur comme il aime se définir, décide d'aller voir ailleurs si l'herbe est plus verte. Persuadé que l'avenir est au low cost, il lance en 1995 la compagnie aérienne easyJet. Le dynamisme de Stelios fait décoller rapidement la compagnie aérienne.

En quelques années Stelios est devenu le pape du low cost, avec une fortune personnelle estimée à 1,29 milliards de livres sterling, Stelios Haji-loannou tire davantage plaisir de la création que de la réussite financière qu'elle peut engendrer.
