He has over 10 years’ investment industry experience having held various asset management related roles with NewSmith’s strategic partner Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank (SMTB).
He worked in the Asset Management Business Planning Department from 2004 to 2008, he then spent two years as a Japanese Equity Analyst, specialising in Materials stocks.
From 2010 to 2012, he was part of SMTB’s Corporate Planning Department, and since leaving this post has specialised in the research and analysis of Japanese and Asian equities.
Mr. Kato graduated from Hitotsubashi University in Japan with a BA in Economics and also has an MA from Kyoto University in Human and Environmental Studies.
