He was eventually promoted to head of all distressed trading and all loan trading in 2005.
Prior to working at JPMorgan, Mr. Abate worked in the Lehman Brothers Distressed Trading business from 1998 until 2000.
He also previously worked at Citigroup, first as head of distressed research on the loan trading desk from 1994 until 1996, and later as head of distressed trading from 1996 until 1998.
Prior to working for Citigroup, Mr. Abate worked as a high yield analyst with PPM America and First Coast Capital Management, a high yield boutique.
Mr. Abate received an M.B.A.
from the University of Florida and a B.A.
from James Madison University.
He is also a CFA charter holder.
