Knowledge Reef Systems Inc. (KRS) is the developer and operator of kReef. KRS is a privately held company based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The company was formed in October of 2007 with funding from angel investors, the New Mexico Gap Fund and the Los Alamos National Laboratory's Venture Acceleration Fund. kReef is designed to make researchers more productive by accelerating the information discovery process. kReef simulates the manual processes that researchers employ when searching for resources to support their investigations people, documents, events, funding opportunities and other relevant items. The kReef system is comprised of three components the service platform, applications that use the kReef services and the resource database. Continuously aggregating metadata about scholarly resources from a wide range of sources, kReef discovers and automatically routes information to members based on their context, interests and kReef activity.
