Guillaume Faury est né en 1968 à Cherbourg. C’est un dirigeant d’entreprise français, connu pour être directeur général d’Airbus depuis avril 2019.
Il est diplômé de l'École polytechnique de Paris en 1990 puis de l'école nationale supérieure de l'aéronautique et de l'espace de Toulouse. Passionné par l’aviation, il est pilote d’avion léger mais également pilote d'hélicoptère.
Guillaume Faury a débuté sa carrière en 1992 en tant qu’ingénieur d’essais en vol de l’hélicoptère Eurocopter Tiger au profit de la direction générale de l’armement (agence chargée du développement et de l’achat de systèmes de défense pour les forces armées françaises).
De 1998 à 2008, il a occupé divers postes de direction dans les domaines de l’ingénierie et des programmes d’essais en vol pour l’entreprise Eurocopter (à l’époque, secteur hélicoptère de l’entreprise Airbus). Il devient rapidement vice-président exécutif des programmes et membre du comité exécutif d’Eurocopter, avant d’être nommé directeur exécutif de la recherche et du développement.
En 2009, il intègre le groupe Peugeot. Il passe quatre ans chez le constructeur automobile français au poste de vice-président exécutif de la recherche et du développement et en tant que membre du directoire de la société. Pendant ces quatre années, il a notamment contribué à des avancées significatives dans la technologie des moteurs hybrides peu polluants du groupe automobile.
En 2013, Guillaume Faury devient président et chef de la direction d'Airbus Helicopters. Il a pour mission de redresser l’activité de l’entreprise en restructurant son système de fabrication et en introduisant de nouvelles technologies dans ses usines. Sous son leadership, les ventes se redressent, grâce notamment à la signature de contrats historiques.
En février 2018, il est nommé président de la division avions commerciaux d’Airbus et membre du comité exécutif de la société.
Le 8 octobre 2018, Guillaume Faury est choisi par le conseil d’administration d'Airbus pour devenir le prochain directeur général du groupe, succédant ainsi à Tom Enders.
Son objectif, en tant que président des activités commerciales d’Airbus, est de moderniser le système de fabrication de l’unité commerciale au moment où celle-ci entreprend la plus forte augmentation de la production aéronautique de son histoire.
L’autre priorité de Guillaume Faury est d’améliorer les performances environnementales du groupe Airbus en réduisant les émissions de carbone dans l’ensemble des activités de l’unité commerciale, en réduisant la consommation de carburant de ses avions et, à long terme, en concevant une nouvelle génération de transporteurs de passagers plus propres et écologiques.
