Richard is a member of the independent advisory board of Frontier Performance Fund I LLC (the “Frontier”) and advisor to Arch River Capital LLC and Arch River Navigator Fund I LP (collectively “Arch River”) where he contributes his expertise in areas of investment banking, financial structuring, start-up assessment, due diligence and financial analysis of opportunities introduced to Frontier and Arch River.
His career was primarily spent as a Managing Director of UBS Investment Bank where he was responsible for equity and derivatives management for its Asia Pacific region and resided for many years in Korea, Japan, and Hong Kong before returning to the United States.
Mr. Samuelson currently manages his own family investment office and remains one of the most active independent private investors in the Seattle and Pacific North West area.
Richard has invested in over 20 early-stage companies ranging from water purification, software, biomedical technologies to traditional industrial products and manufacturing companies.
Richard holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Pennsylvania, The Wharton School, and International Law and Economics MA from Yale University.
In addition, Mr. Samuelson holds professional designations as a CFA (Certified Financial Analyst), CAIA (Certified Alternative Investment Analyst), and FRM (Financial Risk Manager).
