Dr. Michael Klien is a Senior Economist & Research Group Coordinator at Österreichisches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung.
He has worked in the Research Groups “Macroeconomics and European Economic Policy” and “Structural Change and Regional Development” since 2014.
His research focuses on the organization of the public sector and the efficiency of public service delivery.
His research interests range from finance, political economics, organizational and institutional economics to industrial economics.
Apart from academic experience, he has extensive experience consulting national and international organizations (OECD, World Bank).

He worked as a post-doc at the IAE de Paris, Sorbonne Graduate Business School.
He completed his Master's and doctorate studies at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration.
