Mr. Mark Fennell is a General Manager of Risk at Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation.
Mr. Fennell joined the Guardians in 2007 as General Manager, Operations.
In 2012 he was appointed General Manager, Portfolio Completion, where he oversees the team’s implementation of the Reference Portfolio, as well as currency overlay, rebalancing, and liquidity management.
Prior to this, Mr. Fennell worked for The Warehouse Group where he held roles as Company Secretary, Treasurer and Chief Risk Manager.
He has considerable public sector experience in State Owned Enterprises, working as Treasurer for the Forestry Corporation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and NZ Railways Corporation respectively.
In these roles, he oversaw treasury and banking relationships, managed financing and debt portfolios, established treasury policy, systems and software, and lead various teams.
