He began his career as a researcher at the Foundation for Administrative Development (Fundap) in São Paulo, where he developed several studies on the Brazilian and international financial systems.
Dr. Kawall worked an advisor to the Vice President of Investments at Banespa,Financial Advisor to the board at Energy Company of São Paulo (CESP) and at Eletropaulo as.
He was also professor at the Catholic University of São Paulo for 18 years where he taught courses in financial system and public finances in the Masters Program in Political Economy.
He worked at Citigroup in Brazil for eight years as Chief Economist In 2004 he was appointed Chief Financial and Capital Market National Bank for Economic Development (BNDES) and in 2006, he was appointed Secretary of the Treasury.
Dr. Kawall holds a degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration,University of São Paulo (USP).
He obtained his Masters and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the Institute of Economics, University of Campinas (IE / UNICAMP).
