In the early 1990s, Mr. Hodges led the development of the Economic Development Institute (EDI), which consolidated Georgia Tech’s economic development and business assistance programs under one organization.
Later, the Office of Economic Development and Technology Ventures (EDTV) was formed to bring those economic development and business assistance programs together with Georgia Tech’s expanding programs in technology commercialization.
The Enterprise Innovation Institute was formed in 2006 to refocus those programs around innovation.
Mr. Hodges serves as liaison to economic development organizations and agencies in Georgia, and has been actively involved in the formation of such organizations as the Georgia Centers for Advanced Telecommunications Technology (GCATT) and the Georgia Research Alliance (GRA).
He has also served as president of the Georgia Economic Developers Association (GEDA), and is on the board of directors for a variety of technology-based organizations, including the Business and Technology Alliance.
Mr. Hodges has previously held the positions of deputy commissioner of the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism; associate director of the ATDC; director of the West Georgia Area Office of the Georgia Tech Research Institute; executive vice president of the Madisonville, Kentucky Chamber of Commerce; and research and community development specialist for the Kentucky Department of Commerce.
Mr. Hodges received a B.A.
degree from Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky.
