Mr. Thomas Moser is a Managing Partner at PONTIS, Dr. Thomas Moser oversees the entire investment process from deal acquisition, evaluation, deal-structuring, negotiations of contracts and active management, to implementing the exit strategy from an investment.
As a Managing Director of PVP I, he represents the fund on the supervisory board of the portfolio companies.
His speciality is in early-stage financing investments that are primarily focused on biotech and life Science industry.
Professional Experience: After 5 years as an academic assistant at the Molecular Biology Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Salzburg, Dr. Moser moved to Petromontan/Bioconsult in Hallein in 1993.
As head of microbiological research and development there, he looked after technical sales, negotiations with strategic partners as well managing the installation of a pilot production line for Lenzing AG.
In 1998 he was employed by the Innovationsagentur where his main task was to establish a department for the commercialisation of patents from Austrian universities and research units.
He was also involved in the co-ordination of due diligence for seed investments in Austrian biotech-companies.
Under his supervision numerous patents were filed and some significant licensing contracts were closed with international companies.
From 2001 to 2005 he was an investment manager for both Invest Equity and TecNet Company.
During his time with these firms, he was involved in five major investments in biotech, medical device and speciality chemical companies.
Education: After finishing his higher education in Linz, Dr. Moser studied Genetics with a focus on biochemistry in Salzburg and Innsbruck.
He then pursued a PhD in developmental biology.
