Prior to joining Mackie Research in November 2010, Mr. Holt spent extensive years in the field of equity research, primarily as an analyst with major Canadian sell-side investment firms covering consumer-related sectors including brewers, distillers, beverage, food, agricultural, packaging, and tobacco companies.
During the 1990s, he was the central figure of an industry-specific agri-food team at CIBC and subsequently at Scotia Capital.
Through his published research and conferences, he is well-known in the investment community as the first analyst to correctly re-value content companies on the basis of direct digital download, foretelling the ground-breaking secular shift which would forever change the global entertainment sector.
During his tenure as an analyst, Mr. Holt was consistently top-ranked by the Greenwich Associates and Brendan Woods surveys; when he left the sell-side to work as a consultant he was ranked no.
1 in Consumer Products.
Mr. Holt received his BM degree from the McGill University in 1981.
