He later advanced to regional officer and then served as assistant director of branches, assuming the role of director of branches in 1995.

During that same period, the number of financial consultants increased 25%.
In March 2001 Mr. Bagby was named chairman and CEO.
Mr. Bagby was appointed to the brokerage subsidiary's board of directors in 1980 and to the holding company's board of directors in 1995.
Before joining A.G.
Edwards, Mr. Bagby was an investment broker and a branch manager for another major retail brokerage firm.
He started in the brokerage business in 1967.
