UNITEL Corporation, the mobile telecommunication's operator won the open tender to establish a 3rd mobile telecommunication's operator in Mongolia which was announced in order to increase fair competition in Mongolian mobile telecommunications market, improve quality and standards of mobile services, deliver innovative and widely available services for mobile service users, and to fasten the development of the mobile telecommunications' sector. Thus UNITEL Corporation was officially established on the 23rd of December 2005, and started its services from 26th of June 2006. Since starting its services, within two year or as of the end of 2008, UNITEL Corporation has expanded its network coverage to a total of about 187 regions throughout Mongolia including Ulaanbaatar, its surrounding areas, large aimag and soum centers and settlements. Thus, UNITEL Corporation has created the most reliable mobile telecommunication network covering the entire territory of Mongolia and delivering its services through 7 service centers and 2800 licensed distribution networks in Ulaanbaatar, 29 service centers and 1300 licensed distributors in the rural area, reaching 350000 customers countrywide. With its technology based on the highly advanced and reliable GSM system, UNITEL Corporation is offering new and unique services to its customers.
