Lawrence Goodman is the President of the Center for Financial Stability (CFS).
Mr. Goodman was Managing Director and Global Head of Emerging Market Strategy at Bank of America, where he led the team responsible for analysis of emerging economies and currencies in Asia, the Americas, and Europe.
Earlier in his career, he was an economist at Bank of America representing the institution on Economic Subcommittees to the Bank Advisory Committee to analyze and negotiate Brady and Baker debt restructuring agreements.
Prior to Bank of America, Mr. Goodman ran Quantitative Policy Analysis (QPA) at the U.S.
Treasury, where he created and developed a crisis prevention business within the public sector by co-founding and chairing an inter-agency (13) group to advise senior officials throughout the U.S.
government on potential crises.
Previously, he was Chief Global Economist at Santander Investment, where he functioned as the lead US economist and a member of the Executive Committee for the Global Equity Group.
Before Santander, he served as the Head of Latin America Economic Research at Salomon Brothers Inc. He was repeatedly ranked for economic research by Institutional Investor.
Mr. Goodman holds a B.A.
from the University of Pennsylvania, an MBA in finance from UC Berkeley, and has engaged in Ph.D.
studies in economics at The New School.
He served on the Board of the Emerging Market Traders Association (EMTA) from 2006-09 and the Advisory Board of the “Emerging Markets Quarterly” an Institutional Investor publication from 1996-2001.
