Sontag is a Chairman at Wealthspire Advisors LLC.
Mr. Sontag founded Sontag Advisory, a predecessor firm of Wealthspire, to introduce his personal client-centric approach to financial advisory services.
He remains as committed to the business as ever, and in addition to being an advisor and managing member of the firm, is an active member of the Investment Policy Committee.
Before founding the firm in 1995, Mr. Sontag spent thirteen years at Lazard Fréres & Co. He served initially as head of both the tax department and benefits group and then, beginning in 1991, as a senior executive in the private client group within Lazard’s asset management group.
He began his career in the tax department of a major accounting firm and then held corporate tax positions at two Fortune 500 companies with duties that included dealing with a wide array of tax issues, benefits programs and executive compensation.
He then moved to a national benefits consulting firm where he led the 401(k) team and advised Lazard and other large corporations on benefits related issues.
Mr. Sontag was a graduate of St. John’s University and the St. John’s University Law School and received a Masters of Law in Taxation from the New York University Law School.
