Dr. Elisabeth Christen is a Senior Economist at Österreichisches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung.
She has been working in the WIFO Research Group "Industrial Economics, Innovation, and International Competition" since 2013.
Her research focuses on empirical analysis of international trade issues, including foreign direct investment, the internationalization strategies of multinational firms, trade in services, and the labor market impacts of trade, as well as empirical analysis of trade policy.
In the areas noted, she is involved in or leading several projects (national and international) and teaches applied International Economics at the University of Vienna.
She is also an expert to the Austrian Advisory Council for foreign trade policy and is a member of the Advisory Board on Foreign Trade Statistics at Statistics Austria.
In addition, she is an expert too and part of the organizing team at the Research Center of International Economics (FIW) which provides support to the Austrian scientific community and offers expert analysis on a number of current policy-related issues in the field of International Economics.
Her publications in international journals include the Review of International Economics, World Economy, as well as the Handbook of Computable General Equilibrium Modeling.
Before joining WIFO in 2013, she worked as a research assistant at the Universities of Linz and Innsbruck.
She holds a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Linz (2008) and a Ph.D.
degree from the University of Innsbruck with a major in International Economics (2013).
