Dr. Eplett brings over 20 years of healthcare industry experience to the Partnership.
Prior to joining Essex Woodlands Health Ventures, he headed the Clinical Affairs and Business Development Departments at CardioGenesis Corporation, where he oversaw successful clinical trials resulting in FDA approval of the company's transmyocardial revascularization system.
Subsequently, he was involved with the formation and early management of InfraReDx, a startup company developing technologies for diagnosing and treating vulnerable plaques in coronary arteries.
He was formerly a management consultant with Booz Allen & Hamilton's healthcare practice and founded a physician staffing business for physical therapy clinics.
Dr. Eplett joined Essex Woodlands in 2000.
He led the Partnership’s investments in, and currently serves on the Board of Directors, of Inhibitex, Thermage, and St. Francis Medical Technologies, Inc. Dr. Eplett attended Cornell University and the University of Vermont, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
He holds a Doctor of Medicine from Tufts University, where he graduated summa cum laude and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.
His research activities were in the fields of spine surgery and head and neck oncology.
He was surgical resident at Johns Hopkins Hospital, then spent four years as an U.S.
Navy flight surgeon and became Chairman of the Aviation Medicine Department at Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro, CA.
Following his tour in the Navy, Dr. Eplett earned a Masters in Business Administration from Stanford University.
