Prior to joining Sycamore, Mr. Chan was CEO of Jia2000.com, a company engaged in construction material contracting and supplies, providing an exchange platform for the same.
Jia2000.com's shareholders comprise of Softbank and Intel.
He served the company from 2000 until 2005.
During 1996 to 1999, Mr. Chan was a director of the board of Dynasty International Hotel Corporation and also served on the board of DICH (Holdings) Corporation, a joint venture company between Dynasty and Inter-Continental Hotels Corporation.
Mr. Chan's career dates back to 1991 when he first joined Oppenheimer & Co. as an Investment Banker where he was later promoted to co-manage two funds of total size USD$100 million.
He had also led a telecom consortium in 1995 to bid for the second Singapore Wireless Telecommunication License and was subsequently awarded a wireless paging license.
He has served as Managing Director of a private investment company in China that specializes in coal related energy projects.
The company h as raised an investment size of USD 200 million in 2005 and engaged in the investment of the Shanxi Province Coal Logistics Corporation, which is the second largest annual distributor of coal in the world.
Mr. Chan is a graduate of Columbia University in New York.
He received his BS and MS degrees in Industrial Engineering (Operations Research) and also obtained a Masters degree in Business Administration from Columbia University in 1994.
