Mme Adriana Karaboutis est chef de l'information et du numérique du groupe chez National Grid Plc et directrice indépendante chez Perrigo Co. Plc. A 40 ans, la célèbre top model entame une nouvelle carrière dans les affaires. L'ancienne femme du célèbre footballer, Christian Karembeu , a lancé une marque de cosmétiques, AKD, entrée avec succès sur le marché libre parisien. On connaissait Adriana Karembeu pour son physique et sa carrière parmi les people, il faudra désormais s’habituer à la voir côtoyer les investisseurs.

Née en Slovaquie en septembre 1971, Adriana Sklenarikova est allée jusqu’en troisième année de médecine à l’université de Prague. En 1997, Adriana Karembeu se fait remarquer lors d'un concours de beauté :une fulgurante carrière de mannequin commence alors. Il faut dire qu’Adriana ne passe pas inaperçue : avec son mètre quatre-vingt-cinq et ses jambes de 1,26 mètre, elle devient vite une des stars des podiums de défilés haute couture.

Mais ce n’est pas tout : elle anime des émissions en Italie, sur la plus grande chaine du pays, tourne des publicités, joue la comédie et se transforme en ambassadrice pour de nombreuses causes humanitaires (Reporters sans frontières, la Croix Rouge…).

Lassée de sa vie de mondanités et de son image de sex symbol, Adriana Karembeu décide de varier les plaisirs et de revêtir un nouveau costume de femme d’affaires. Dès 2005, elle s’associe ainsi avec Alain Legout, avec qui elle fonde AKD, une société de cosmétiques vendant des produits à base de silicium organique. Lui s’occupe de gestion et des finances, elle s’implique dans la création des produits et, évidemment, le marketing.

Sa stratégie pour s’imposer ? Pénétrer les circuits professionnels et les spas. Elle explique : « Il y a moins de concurrents. Un institut utilise au maximum 4 marques. Chez Marionnaud et Sephora, il est très difficile de percer parmi des centaines d’autres ». Aujourd’hui, AKD distribue ses produits dans 180 instituts et a réalisé en 2010 un chiffre d’affaires proche du million d’euros.

Point d’orgue du développement de cette société, l’introduction sur le marché libre parisien en juin 2011, qui lui permet de lever assez d’argent pour poursuivre son aventure dans les affaires. L’objectif de la jeune business woman : atteindre 22 millions d’euros de chiffre d’affaires en 2015. En décembre 2011, Adriana Karembeu a ouvert son premier spa à Marrakech, au Maroc.

Ms. Petersen is an active member in her industry and her community.
She is a founding Board Member of the Nanotechnology Research Foundation, a non-profit volunteer-based organization in which she actively promotes advanced sciences and technology to the general population and the youth in our country.
